How it works

  1. step 1

    Pick your size

Choose your cable and a standard size, or type in your own measurements. The 3D view updates as you go.

  2. step 2

    Check it in 3D

Turn the model round, cut it away to see inside, or lay the parts out as they print.

  3. step 3

    Download and print

Get a zip with the STLs and a note of your settings. Print notes say which way up. No supports needed.

Every generator runs OpenSCAD in your browser, so nothing is uploaded. Each one is a parametric model: a size change is a setting, not a new design.

Questions

Which size winder do I need?

Pick your cable type and each of the 9 sizes shows how much of that cable it holds. As a guide, 1.5m of standard USB fits the smallest, 55 × 25mm.

Do the winders need supports?

No. The body prints floor-down, the hub base-down and the lid top-down, all without supports.

How does the lid stay on?

It clicks over a bead round the top of the body, like a pill box, but still turns. Pins under the lid drop into the hub so lid and hub turn together as a winding handle.

Can I mount the winders on a wall?

Yes. The winder trough holds them on edge in a row and screws to a wall or shelf. Segments clip end to end for a longer run.

Is it free? Do I need to install anything?

It is free and runs in your browser. Each generator runs OpenSCAD locally, so nothing is uploaded and there is nothing to install.

Hi, I'm Will. I make these for jobs around my own house: a gutter that needs a quick fix, or a drawer of cables to tidy. Every part is sized to print on a 220mm bed, like a Creality Ender V3.
